There are a lot of wholesale android tablets– it’s quite hard to keep pace-Priceangels.com

Not being a copycat may likely involve staying away from the crowded tablet market. "In five years I don't think there'll be a reason to have a tablet anymore," according to the CEO. "Maybe a big screen in your workspace, but not a tablet as such. Tablets themselves are not a good business model." This certainly isn't the first time the exec has expressed caution about the space in the wake of the PlayBook's lukewarm reception. Heins has mentioned in the past that the company won't jump back into tablets unless it sees the potential for profits.
Especially in the last year, Nvidia has displayed a desire to augment its traditional chipmaking efforts with hardware of its own. This desire has surfaced in the form of server products like the Nvidia Grid and in gadgets like the oft-delayed, price-cut Shield gaming wholesale android tablets. Leaked images of yet another piece of Nvidia hardware suggest that the company's next hardware effort may be something a bit less adventurous.

The "Tegra Tab" looks like a small Android tablet in the vein of the Nexus 7. The Verge notes that the tablet has a textured back reminiscent of last year's Nexus tablet as well as a rear-facing camera, micro-HDMI port, micro-USB port, and a slot that may be intended for a stylus. Otherwise, we don't know much about the tablet besides the fact that it will obviously use one of Nvidia's Tegra processors if it's real—last year's Nexus 7 was powered by Nvidia's Tegra 3 system-on-a-chip, but this year's revision dropped Nvidia in favor of a quad-core chip from Qualcomm. Nvidia hasn't sold a standard Android tablet before, but it has built both tablets and phones on a small scale to serve as reference devices for its chips.

The most likely candidate to power the tablet would be the company's Tegra 4, which it formally introduced at this year's CES. Aside from the Shield, we've only seen it crop up in a handful of devices so far, including Toshiba's Excite Write and HP's SlateBook x2. Shipping a standard Tegra 4 tablet itself (especially at a Nexus 7-like price, running the Shield's mostly stock Android) would give Nvidia a consumer product with wider appeal than the Shield has, but the company would have to overcome the manufacturing problems that marred the launch of the tablet-turned-console.flj8fFDFd3

Sales of tablet computers are still booming – but there are fears the prolific sector could burn itself out. Carphone Warehouse plans to grow its tablet offering after posting a “significant” year-on-year sales increase; it has even enlisted the help of model Kate Moss to design exclusive tablet accessories for its stores.

Currys and PC World are seeing strong growth in the tablet category too, including a 344 per cent rise in sales of tablet accessories year-on-year. It expects skins, keyboards and cases to be “huge sellers” this holiday season.

Market research firm GfK recently told PCR that tablets and accessories have been key to keeping the market afloat, and “will continue to play a crucial role in driving the industry’s growth throughout 2013”. Meanwhile, Gartner estimates worldwide tablet shipments will grow 67.9 per cent this year to some 202 million units. But indies are concerned about the sheer amount of product.
