The Samsung Galaxy S5 isn’t expected to arrive until March of next year, the same month that the Galaxy S4 launched, and we expect a ton of rumors and speculation to emerge between now and then. Current Galaxy S5 rumors suggest a new design paired with a brand new high-end camera that could blow the Galaxy S4 camera out of the water. There is also talk that the Samsung Galaxy F series could be the company’s premium build with the Galaxy S potentially getting demoted.
Korean publication ETNews suggests that the Galaxy S5 could bring a dust and water resistant premium design to the table, premium hinting to a possible change to the device’s plastic design. It appears that Samsung may be investigating an “Active” like design for the Galaxy Note 3 as well as the report suggests that the Galaxy Note 3 could get these types of enhancements down the road as well.
While
the Samsung Galaxy S5 launch is thought to be several months away at
least, that hasn’t stopped rumors from emerging about the
next-generation Galaxy S with the latest suggesting that the Galaxy S5
design may be equipped with the same dust and water resistant properties
as the current Samsung Galaxy S4 Active.Earlier this year, Samsung
introduced several versions of its flagship Samsung Galaxy S4 including
the regular old Galaxy S4, a Galaxy S4 Zoom with an upgraded camera, a
Galaxy S4 mini with a smaller design and lesser specs, and a samsung galaxy s cases
Active that featured many of the regular Galaxy S4 specs but upped the
ante with its design by offering dust and water resistance.Samsung and Sony are respectively expected to introduce new variants of their flagship smartphones, the Samsung Galaxy S4 and Sony Xperia Z1, specifically intended for the Japanese market. According to a leaked NTT DoCoMo brochure obtained by RBMen, both phones should join the carrier's roster over the next few quarters.bf2DSs2d
Over on the Samsung side, we have the Galaxy J, which looks to be a slightly more powerful take on the Galaxy S4. Boasting 3GB RAM instead of the standard 2GB, this meatier Galaxy J also comes with a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor. Based on the leaked photos, NTT DoCoMo customers can look for the handset in coral pink, satin white, and lapis blue.It is unclear whether either of these two devices will make their way outside of Japan; I would not expect either model with its new internals in the United States. Sony has a few North American options and seems content to take things slow, and Samsung already provides a number of Galaxy S4 models.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 is currently using Android 4.2 Jelly Bean with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI over the top. The software is more Samsung than Google and the manufacturer’s fingerprints can be found everywhere. Samsung has introduced several new features including Smart Scroll, which allows users to scroll around using their eyes and a feature called Air View which uses sensors embedded inside the Galaxy S4 and allows users to hover their finger over content to get a preview.
Samsung will upgrading the Galaxy S4 with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean sometime this month which should not only bring Android 4.3 features but some TouchWiz tweaks as well. Updates for the Galaxy S4 will come reasonably fast but they simply won’t come as fast as Nexus 5 updates. In fact, the Nexus 5 software is going to be vastly different than the software found on the Galaxy S4.
As well as confirming the tech, i9500 S4 has also confirmed that it will launch a phone which implements it. Although no further details have been outed officially, the news follows word from Korean newspapers and the rumour mill that such a device will launch in the next week, will be called the Samsung Galaxy Round and will feature a similar spec to the Samsung Galaxy Note 3.
